VIDEO FOR "WE SHOULD THE FUTURE" here:
- "Dark Fog are one of Chicago's most underappreciated psych bands. Since 2003 they've been setting their controls for the heart of 1968, and this week they self-release their trippiest LP yet, The Seaside Sounds of Dark Fog at Doctor Officer Quimby's House. It's full of chunky MC5/Pink Fairies motorcycle rock, overdriven Hendrix-style wah-wah, and mushroom clouds of reverb." -by J.R. Nelson Chicago Reader November 20, 2012 MUSIC | GOSSIP WOLF
- “I’ll never forget the first thing the Doctor Officer said to me that day,
“Take a fork with you...and be sure to have your lens.”
To this day many years later I’m still not quite sure what he meant, but believe me, I took a fork down there. It’s just the kind of effect he had on people.” - Ray Donato, October 2012
It was a long time ago, and no time at all when we first met Doctor Officer Quimby just outside his palatial beachside resort. Meeting us outside, we learned later, was a ploy to catch us offguard.
It was also a privilege not meted out to all guests. Had we known the 'Quimby Rx' bottles of homebrew he handed us then were not just beer but some tribal concoction whose recipe had been stolen from the natives, we may have at least imbibed at a slower pace.
What happened next was the stuff of legends, involving a large beach party, complete chaos, and the grinning Doctor's large basement recording setup. The comedown was hard though, and the night coalesced with Doctor Officer Quimby running into the rushing waves shouting 'woo' and turning up the next morning drowned. e Doctor's family did all they could, keeping him on life support for many years. Unfortunately, the family blamed Dark Fog, stating that no other band had caused such an outburst from their beloved Doctor Officer. e tapes of that night had been tied up in court ever since...
And now that Doctor Officer Quimby (may he rest in peace) has been taken off life support, the last legal hurdle has been removed and we can bring you this classic, never before revealed,
Dark Fog album...enjoy...
